Carol Howe, DNSc, CNM, FACNM developed the first nurse-midwifery education program and faculty practice in Oregon. Dr. Howe is an advocate who has advanced nurse-midwifery locally, and nationally, creating a legacy of highly trained and skilled clinicians in her field. This scholarship supports nurse-midwifery student education and practice, enabling students to continue Dr. Howe’s legacy.

Application and Procedures:

Complete this OHSU School of Nursing Carol Howe Scholarship in Nurse-Midwifery application and supply a resume or curriculum vitae to Jocelyn Martinez-Blanco at martijoc@ohsu.edu.
Completed applications and supporting documentation must be received by the School of Nursing Admissions by May 15, 2022.

Eligibility:

Must be a currently enrolled full-time nurse-midwifery student (graduate only). The applicant must be in good standing and have completed 3 terms of nurse-midwifery education.
Previous Carol Howe Scholarship in Nurse-Midwifery recipients are eligible to apply.
Demonstrate financial need based on OHSU’s Financial Aid Office needs assessment.

Award Amount:

Scholarship decisions will be made in June for awarding starting fall term and will be applied against tuition and fees.
Scholarships will be awarded at a maximum of $5,000, depending on the strength of the application in the criteria noted above.
School of Nursing scholarships are awarded using information provided on this application.
Students will not be considered for OHSU nursing scholarship funds without this completed application form and essay.
Students must be admitted and in good academic standing in order to be considered for a scholarship.
